We just loved this Birthday Cake – only 2 ingredients! It’s perfect for summer and no need to heat up the oven. And did we mention only 2 ingredients!!
Are you ready?
- 1 to 2 (48 oz ) containers of your favorite Strawberry Ice Cream
- 1 to 2 ready made, store bought angel food cakes
Let the ice cream sit out on the counter until it’s runny. Don’t rush it by using the microwave. The consistency is better if allowed to melt on its own. Now open up the angel food cake.
In a two-piece angel food cake pan, alternate torn pieces of cake and the ice cream using a rubber spatula to level the layers. For a smaller cake, use one cake and one container of ice cream. But since this is so easy, go all out and fill the pan using two containers of ice cream and 2 cakes. This makes a spectacular display. You may want to cover the bottom of the pan with plastic wrap in case it leaks.
Now put the whole thing in the freezer until you are ready to plate the cake. When ready, remove the outer shell of the pan, turn it over on a cake plate, and stick a warm wash cloth in the center tube. Now relax. In a few minutes you will hear a “plopping” sound when the cakes slides off the tube and onto your cake plate. Now remove the second part of the cake pan and put the cake back into the freezer until ready to serve.
Add candles and serve with fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce. Done!
(Feel free to swap out pound cake for the angel food cake)
